Why Your Skin Is Sensitive?

  • Genetics - if your parents or siblings have sensitive skin, there’s higher chance you might have it too.
  • Environmental Factors - pollutions, harsh weather condition and UV radiation can weaken your skin barrier.
  • Allergies - Allergies to certain food, fabrics or irritating skin care ingredients like fragrances or preservatives.
  • Age - skin naturally become thinner thus loses some of its protective capabilities.
  • Stress - stress hormones triggers inflammation which can negatively impact your skin’s health.
  • Synthetic Skincare Products - check if you are using any products that contain harmful additives such as
    - paraben
    - methylisothiazolinone (MI / MIT)
    - methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI / CMIT)
    - polyethylene glycol (PEG)
    - sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
    - artificial fragrance, etc.

TIPS for Managing Sensitive Skin:

  • Choose Gentle Products - look for skincare products designed specifically for sensitive skin with alcohol-free, fragrance-free or hypoallergenic. You are also suggested to select natural skincare products that contain anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients to protect and repair your affected skin. Natural ingredients such as
    - Elderberry Extract
    - Willow bark Extract
    - Cucumber Extract
    - Licorice Extract
    - Chamomile Essential Oil
    - Damask Rose Flower Water
    - Rose Geranium Essential Oil
Above listed are anti-inflammatory natural ingredients that can reduce inflammation and redness, speed up wound healing, calm and sooth delicate skin
  • Perform Patch Tests - do a patch test on a small area of your skin to ensure it doesn’t cause a reaction
  • Hydrating Enough - Keeping enough hydration can help strength skin barrier and reduce sensitivity
  • Avoid Hot Water - how water can strip your skin of natural oil, leading to dryness and irritation
  • Use Sunscreen - with at least SPF 50* can protect from harmful UV rays
  • Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle - a balanced diet, adequate sleep and regular exercise like yoga or pilates can all contribute to healthier skin.
